Russ drops off new single 'Pent Up In A Penthouse'

Russ was probably one of the most consistent artists in 2024 that seemed to slip under the radar. His talent is undeniable but for whatever reason he doesn’t get his flowers from the mainstream. The rapper is back and looking to pick up where he left off with a brand new single ‘Pent Up In A Penthouse’. The title alone has been causing a stir on social media, it really does suggest to have a deeper meaning. Almost like he wants you to guess what it could mean, is it the feeling of soaring high yet still feeling trapped?

The production is quite tame, a gentle piano loop and subdued percussion which builds the tension as the track plays. It’s one of those beats where Russ can just talk his stuff without feeling like the production is intruding on his voice too much. Russ gives us an insight into what it feels like to have it all whilst feeling disconnected. A very powerful message when you really let it sink in, the track isn’t flashy and probably won’t receive a major spotlight but it’s most definitely thoughtful.
