NEW: Neisha - 1 Thought

Introducing Neisha, she’s the first lady of New Street Sounds, an exciting new label headed up by Birmingham veteran, DJ Biggoss. A quick Google/social media search will tell you he has headed up the UK Takeover Show for many years and also has an R&B dedicated radio show. Biggoss is no stranger to good music and he is a maverick when it comes to homegrown artists!

It’s for these reasons that I was interested to hear Neisha and her first release, '1 Thought'. I was pleasantly surprised, the melodies are lucid and dream like, the harmonies are well placed and perfectly in key. Neisha has good vocal range; on this single she shows off her sultry lower register on the verses and effortlessly switches to higher falsetto notes on the chorus. The production is fresh, soft and gentle with a hard snare that cuts through confidently. It gives me a similar vibe to Shae Universe's 2020 single ‘You Lose’ - which is a compliment!

UK R&B has been struggling for identity for some time now, floating in the weird space between afro swing, drill and jazzy soul. However, Neisha is not struggling for identity at all. I’m excited to hear more from this singer, songwriter and I trust that Biggoss is the man to steer her in the right direction!
