NEW ALBUM: Cordae - The Crossroads

Cordae has been riding solo for some years now and I think that’s the main contributing factor into his freedom to express creative lyricism. When formly being apart of ‘YBN’ it felt as though at times he was dumming down his talents. After his two previous albums, fans were highly anticipating this third one.

The North Carolina raised talent clearly had a vision of what he wanted to achieve on this album, he opened up to Billboard about this recently “I wanted to get better, like, as a songwriter, as a rapper, verses, storytelling and beat selection. So I feel like this is my best foot forward this far.”

Cordae

One thing I have noticed with Cordae is the pull his has on the rap scene. At such a young age and not much experience, it’s always a surprise to see who he’s featured  on his albums, which showcases how well he is respected by his peers and OGs.

This album has allowed me to understand what the rapper is best at and it’s not really those bragging type of records, he sounds more uncomfortable and the tracks don’t seem to have that fire power. Whereas when he strips it back to basics and gives us his creative storytelling raps, it sounds like it’s his bag.
