J Cole finally drops his iconic mixtape ‘Friday Night Lights’ on streaming platforms

It has been a long time coming...

J Cole has been in legacy mode as of late, he launched a podcast ‘Inevitable’ as a way of recapping his monumental achievements and stories on his rap game journey. Ahead of his final album ‘The Fall Off’ he has been gifting us with uploading his old mixtapes onto streaming platforms. Previously we received ‘The Come Up’ and ‘The Warm Up’ and now we have been treated to ‘Friday Night Lights’ on streaming platforms. This is honestly marketing genius, what a way to promote your final album, it’s a win win for everyone. The promotion is essentially free for Cole and his team and his fans almost feel like they’re getting new music.

For me, this mixtape remains one of Cole’s finest points of his career. It’s crazy how he was able to elevate his rapping from the standard that he already set on ‘The Warm Up’ which was already so high. There aren’t many features on this tape but the ones he does have are some of the best names you can feature on your project. He links up with Wale for ‘You Got It’ and of course that classic collaboration with Drake for ‘In The Morning’ which is real testament to how both of these rappers have grown as artists and as people.

You can stream the tape below and bring back that nostalgic feeling.
